Western Link Road works to begin

Date Added 13 January 2021

Urban&Civic have confirmed that works are due to commence on the Western Link Road on Monday 18 January 2021. The road will provide the first section of new infrastructure in to future phases of development. Following a competitive tender process a preferred contractor, Breheny Civil Engineering have been selected. The works will be on site for a total of 30 weeks and complete during the summer with initial works being the earthworks to form the road embankment, followed by drainage works and works on the carriageway itself.

As the works are ‘off line’ we anticipate the impact on local residents to be minimal and have ensured deliveries and construction traffic is diverted away from the residential development wherever possible. At some point during the works, a road closure on Gretton Road will be required which is being agreed with the Highways Authority at present – this is likely to be mid March and run for circa 8-10 weeks whilst the works on the existing highway is completed.

The Contractor will register the site under the Considerate Constructors Scheme to ensure that high standards of welfare, safety, communication and delivery are maintained throughout the construction period, once again, assurance that the impact on local residents is being mitigated wherever possible.

Should any issues arise during the works or any concerns are raised, we would urge you to contact Matt Croft, Urban&Civic Project Manager, in the first instance on 07391 417091.

Thank you for your co-operation.
