Parking consultation survey update
Date Added 26 November 2021
In response to growing concerns regarding pedestrian and road safety, Priors Hall Park residents were asked to complete an informal survey to help to find the most effective solutions to improve road safety on the Park.
To maintain the safety afforded by the existing covenants, two Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) were suggested; one for a blanket pavement parking ban and one for traffic restrictions such as double yellow lines.
A total of 30% of households responded during the 3-week informal consultation period.
In order to progress with a pavement parking ban, North Northamptonshire Council Highways team required a positive response from 50% percent of households on the Park. Following the feedback and responses during the consultation, this measure will not be taken forward at this time.
Of the households who did respond, a majority of 72% requested that a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for double yellow lines is progressed. Having taken advice from the Highways team, the suggested plans pay particular attention to junctions and main through roads, to try and alleviate junction parking and assist with road and pedestrian visibility.
What happens now?
Following the initial consultation, all data and feedback has been collected and anonymised and passed to North Northamptonshire Council Highways. A second formal consultation will be conducted by North Northamptonshire Council in the next 3-6 months and residents can again view and comment on the suggested plans before the Council make their final decision.
North Northamptonshire Council will be responsible for the roads and the enforcement of any traffic measures once implemented.
